Welcome
As Chairman of the North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA) I would like to introduce you to its aims and objectives, and introduce you to some of the practical benefits that the project brings.
The North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA) was established in 2001 to take forward the North East Region's manufacturing strategy, in particular through improving productivity and competitiveness.
NEPA offers a pragmatic response to the Government's call for coherent and effective support for UK manufacturing industry, with a particular interest in helping to close the productivity gap between the UK and its main competitors.
But, NEPA also plays a significant role in addressing the needs of North East England. Its activities are designed to contribute towards the achievements of key objectives of the Regional Economic Strategy and, accordingly, it draws financial support from ONE NorthEast, European Social Fund and the Tyne & Wear Learning & Skills Council.
Since its establishment NEPA has developed the ‘Accelerate North East' programme – a package of support measures currently valued at over £13 million. Some of the key projects are described on this web site.
If you are concerned with the performance of UK manufacturing, with the future of the North East economy, and the need to improve productivity and enhance competitiveness, read on…
